Do you have a smartphone or are you thinking of getting one? There are many choices out there but the two most popular operating systems (OS) are Android and iOS (for the iPhone). There are many variants of the Android OS on many different types of hardware devices but really only one type of iPhone (with older versions still available for purchase). This is something that should definitely be considered when shopping for a smartphone. These devices are more powerful than early pc’s and are on par with some netbooks in terms of power and features which brings up the issue of security.
Smartphones are designed to utilize software applications and transfer data over the internet there are risks with that data falling into the wrong hands, just like on your home or work computers. The main difference is that most home and work pc’s have internet security software installed protecting that device and the data being transferred. This is not the case with most smartphones and most smartphone users take that for granted.
Below is an infographic comparing the differences in security of Android vs. iOS. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
